July 4th Celebration

July 4th falls on a Saturday this year, which means each city will have their own special celebration!

On this day, you can enjoy fireworks along the waterfront, activities all day at Pier 39 and a ferry ride around the bay.
There will be fireworks in the evening and it is going to be beautiful!

If you prefer, you can also get on the cruise boat and tour around the Bay and watch beautiful fireworks.

Other popular activities on this day include biking around the city, wine tasting tours, free walking tours at SF Public Library's free walking tours in the morning or afternoon.

So many choices and it’s not going to be easy to picket one!

Hidden Sunday Champagne buffet gem in Redwood Shore

The drive to Sofitel is unexpectedly surprising. As we were driving on Ralston, we see all these well structured office buildings, and all of sudden, we see water, nature and the beautiful Sofitel!

It's a great place to visit on Sundays as they have bottomless mimosa, all your can enjoy oysters, crab legs, tender chicken breasts, macaroon for dessert and much more. In the addition, the view is absolutely gorgeous!!

Bicycle Sunday on Canada Road

This is one of our favorite places, especially on Sundays!

For those of you who have not been to Cañada Road, you must MUST go! https://parks.smcgov.org/bicycle-sunday

The beauty of living in the Bay Area is that our "hibernation" period exists for few months in any year.  During this time, we deprive ourselves from the nature and desperately wanting to satisfy that inner desire of  being in the outdoor. Now that summer is right around the corner, it is time to get out and get some sun, and Cañada Road is the perfect place to do so!

Cañada Road  is closed between the Filoli entrance and Highway 92 on Sundays, allowing for non-motorized activities including jogging, bicycling, hiking, roller-skating, and walking. And it sure is a beautiful to enjoy the nature!! We consider this place a gem of loops!!

Show Girls in Redwood City? Elvis Presley in Redwood City? Drag Show in Redwood City?

Yes, you heard us, you can find ALL these in our backyard at Angelica!! http://angelicasllc.com/

Angelica is a restaurant/bar/stage show when you have a most wonderful evening! (or brunch, or lunch).

We were super thrilled when we discovered Angelica! They have great food and great shows!

The night we were there we started with Macadamia and baked brie-it was warm, lots of different texture and super delicious!

Steamed clams with white wine, herb-lemon butter was juicy, fresh and made our palate super happy!
Angus Beef Slider with caramelized onions & cheddar cheese was cheesy and satisfying!
Braised short ribs was tender, flavorful, and unforgettable!

The show was entertaining, thought provoking and surely will be one of our most fun date nights!

Being Picasso for the night with a glass of champagne

We were feeling creative so we decided to stop at Create, Mix and  Mingle in San Mateo.

It’s an art studio where it’s catered to both adults and children. We joined the "Paint & Sip" adult studio, where wine, beer and snacks are available for purchase. There was a professional art instructor who guided us step by step to recreate a featured painting.

We got to meet different people, sipped wine while we paint, and competed with each other to see who is a better artist. It was truly a fun event!

Most Unique Fish Tacos in San Carlos

Seiya in San Carlos is not your typical Japanese restaurant.

It’s a contemporarily designed Japanese restaurant with a unique menu which is full of unexpected elements!

Highlight of the night were:
Fish taco: this is truly the most exceptional fish tacos we’ve ever had! Raw fish with fried nori and sumptuous salsa. It’s crunchy, it’s fresh, it’s absolutely delicious!

Grilled corn and a spread of miso flavored butter…..oh my, unimaginable

Asari Butter Sakamu; cherrystone clams steamed in butter sake broth. A generous amount of clams with steamed peas, broccoli stems in an incredibly delicious broth!

There were other quite unique items on the menu and we are planning to go back soon and try them.

Floating Museum- SS Jeremiah O'Brien Ship

This beautiful ship is one of two remaining fully functional Liberty ships of the 2,710 built and launched during World War II, according to http://www.ssjeremiahobrien.org/. Moored at Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf and she is a premier San Francisco attraction!

Stepping back to the past happened immediately as we walked up to the entrance of the ship. It was surreal especially when we were touring the living quarters and try to imagine the life style on this historic ship.

The self-guided tour is truly a fantastic way to learn about WWII history. There are staff on the ship who are extremely knowledgeable. They really do take pride in this ship and answered all of our questions. It takes you back to history, and it was one incredible experience.

The ship opens daily from 9am to 4pm and  it’s right by Peir 45, Fisherman’s Wharf. Can’t miss this opportunity to be part of the historic experience!

Restaurant Hopping on Castro Street, Mountain view

One of our favorite places to go since there are tons of stores, restaurants, shopping and more!

We started out by stopping at Cascal, it’s a Spanish Tapas http://www.cascalrestaurant.com/site2011/index.asp
They have festive ambiance and just a fun place to hang out. Great tapas and memorable paella!

Then we went to Xanh Restaurant and it’s whole different experience than Cascal.  They have great happy hour menu and super cool ambiance. It’s a modern Vietnamese restaurant and some of our favorites are “SPARKLY DIAMOND” which is sparkling Prosecco with exotic lychee and Vietnamese Tacos.

To end this “not following our diet day”, we stopped at New Mongolian BBQ….it’s a hole in the hall all you can eat place. We love experimenting with mix and match when it comes to create our own food. http://newmongolianbbq.com/

Now we need to go back to the gym tomorrow….
