Sparkling Wine Celebration

We got to meet the only person in the world to hold both the Master Sommelier and Advanced Certified Wine Professional credentials, in addition, she sabered the Champagne with a sword!!! She did so with panache and flair!!!

It was an evening filled with anticipation, excitement, deliciousness and satisfaction.

We got to taste 5 different sparkling wines and each glass accompanied with food that completely compliments each other which made our enjoyment to the next level.

We started off with popcorn with truffle salt and thyme. Wine of choice: Bortolotti Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry Valdobbiadene Veneto Italy, $15.99

Then we had mini crab cakes. Wine of choice: Dibon Cava Brute Reserve Vilafranca del Penedes Spain, $9.99

Next we had gruyere gougeres. Wine of choice: Rene Geoffroy Expression Premier Cru Brut Champagne France, $49.99

Then we had cornmeal blint with smoked salmon and crème fraiche. Wine of choice: Moncuit Cuvee Pierre Moncuit-Delos Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne France, $49.99

We finished off with cheese course. Wine of choice: Ayala Rose Majeur Brut Champagne France, $65.99

We love the packet they gave us which included all the wines we tasted and recipes for each dish. We are planning replicate a similar experience at the comfort of our home with our lovely friends and family!

Old Elevator Repair Shop Converted to the Coolest Dining Place

Our first impression before we even enter Oola…..WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!
Oola is a former elevator repair shop converted to a super cool restaurant at SOMA.
A two-story metal and glass door swings out to reveal a row of nine white leather drum-like stools in front of a bar topped with reclaimed wood.

A daring mix of high design and industrial grit, including rough brick walls. It's a style that has been raised to a high art in Europe

Décor is a perfect balance of cool and warm.

We started with grilled octopus with popcorn, paprika and chili oil, which was tender and moist.

For entrée, we tried baby back short ribs with soy ginger glaze and red cabbage apple slaw.

We also had Ora King Salmon w/ ratatouille, spinach, tapenade and herb mouse.

Food is delicious, unassuming and yet satisfying.

Restaurant Hopping in Santana Row

Santana Row is such a fun place of visit. There is always something happening and tons of stores and restaurant we like to check out.

We were visiting a client and on the way back, we decided to do some restaurant hopping at this cool, hip place!

First stop, LB Steak :
Champagne, oyster, pork belly w/ sunny side up egg…..need we say more???

Second stop, Vintage Wine Bar:
What a cute wine bar in the middle of the street! They have a very intimate patio with a super unique waterfall in the background.

Last stop, Blowfish:

What a fun filled restaurant with music, sushi and sake!

Experience Exquisite Dining in Downtown San Mateo

Viogner in Downtown San Mateo is one of our favorites when we are in the mood for fine dining with wine pairing and awesome service!

The restaurant is located in the famed Draegers market and is a super open, spacious dining room that overlooks fourth street, cooking classes, and the market. There is an inviting fireplace which is coveted by many dinners.

There were 2 options on the menu: 3 course tasting vs the full tasting is about 7 courses: the plates were carefully assembled, incredibly flavorful and well balanced with eye catching presentation.

We started with amuse bouche and oh boy, we can eat 10 of that. So incredibly fresh and delicious.

The rest of the dining experience was filled with anticipation, excitement and satisfaction. Each wine were paired perfectly with the meal, a truly complement to each other.

We highly recommend give this restaurant a try as you will not disappoint!
